Kacey's brother Max was her best friend.
Even though he was older than Kacey, Max still played games with
her and listened to her stories. Sometimes Max would read Kacey
a book at bedtime.
Best of all, Max called everyone George because it made Kacey
laugh.
And it did.
Max was going away to college, and Kacey knew she would miss him. Who would play games
with her? Who would listen to her stories?
Max was leaving tomorrow. That meant he would not be home next week for Kacey's birthday.
Kacey was thinking about how much she would miss Max when she heard her mom calling. Kacey
hurried downstairs.
"Max needs your help with something," Kacey's mom said. "He's outside."
Kacey ran outside. Max got out of his car carrying a big box. He smiled when he saw his little sister.
"Hi Kacey," Max said. "Can you help me wrap this present?"
"Sure, she said. "Who's it for?"
"A very good friend of mine," he said.
Kacey loved to wrap presents. She wondered if her brother was taking the gift to a new
friend at college.
